CURRENT EVENTS PRESENTATIONS:

Because we know that we cannot learn a language without learning something of the culture (and vice versa!) we are going to spend some time doing presentations about events that are affecting the Spanish-speaking world.

Your presentation will be a brief summary of a current story that appears in at least one of the websites listed below.

You will be required to:

a) Tell us where the event takes place on a map

b) Tell us what the capital city of the affected country is

c) Give us a summary of the event, having enough background knowledge of the event to answer some questions

d) Be able to tell us why this particular event is important and how it is related to our lives here in Canada

e) Hand in a brief bibliography card outlining 1) your country, 2) a one sentence description of your event, and (3) your sources.

f) You might want to bring in visuals, although this is not mandatory.

Your presentation will be marked /25.  You will be marked for your knowledge of the event, your comfort level in the presenting of the story, your ability to place it on a map, and your bibliography card.

If you are having troubles choosing a news item, please come and see Ms Soderlund.
